Benefits of double glazing

The windows have double glazing due to the fact that between the panes there is a space filled with argon gas or air that creates thermal insulation. No one is buying windows with single glazing today (except for historic buildings, but rarely), because too much heat escapes through them. Only two panes give reasonable parameters (heat transfer coefficient), but this is not really due to the mere presence of two panes of glass. A lot can be obtained by spraying on the glass appropriate layers reflecting infrared radiation, but also filling the space between the panes of heavy noble gas.

Specifically designed to reduce heat loss from homes and buildings, double glazing also performs many other benefits, including:

  • Warmer in winter
  • Cooler in summer
  • Reduces energy usage
  • Reduces condensation
  • Reduces noise
  • Enhances resale value
  • Reduces interior fading
  • Increases security

Installing double glazing to all windows and doors in your home will greatly affect your energy efficiency rating and allow higher heat retention. Whilst double glazing will add an expense, it will allow you to enjoy greater comfort, cost savings in the long run and the added bonus of increasing the resale value of your property.
